The Los Angeles Lakers are attempting to get back to the playoffs and with the possibility of UCLA Guard Lonzo Ball getting drafted to the Lakers it made it look like D’Angelo Russell was no longer an important piece in LA. Now it’s been proven that he wasn’t to important with the team shipping him and ex-Cavs center Timofey Mosgov to the Brooklyn Nets in a trade where the Lakers received Brook Lopez and the 27th pick in the draft.

The Nets will more than likely either be a bad or middle of the road team next year but the paring of Russell & Lin gives them a nice little something to build around in the future. As for the Lakers it’s looking like they’ll either draft Lonzo Ball or De’Aaron Fox, either way they’ll probably get an impact player and fair better than the Nets. There’s also rumors that Lebron James or Paul George are in the Lakers sights either of these pick ups would make them a formidable force in the west even though they won’t stand much against Golden State.
