Manga Inpressions: Dolly Kill Kill

I had been putting this manga off for a few months now and I must say that me doing that was a fucking mistake.

Plot: Dolly Kill Kill centers around a world where the human race has been all but wiped out by beings called Dollies. These Dollies invaded Earth during the very first chapter of the manga using mosquito/wasp like insects to kill many while they themselves slaughtered more humans. Half a year later most of humanity is dead and the world being in a sort of Mad Max apocalyptic state with the dollies still being present. The remaining humans are either going fucking crazy and doing whatever they want or they’re trying to rid the world of these dollies.

Dolly Kill Kill focuses around Iruma who was a normal highschool student up until the invasion. During the invasion he lost his his best friend and his crush which made him a regret driven psychopath that gives no fucks about his own life.

Iruma’s really lost it

Iruma does calm down a bit though he’s not sane through the first 29 chapters (that’s all I’ve read so far). He manages to stay somewhat sane until a Dolly comes around then he goes full Eren Jeager.

The manga’s art is very well done and definitely suits its somewhat insane action scenes. My main problem with the art is that some of the characters look too goofy. So far the plot is solid with their being several characters that could be deemed important which gives the manga options when it comes to choosing a perspective. The manga takes advantage of this when it switches over to Kyujin Namekata.

The manga switchtes back and forth between Namekata and Iruma perspectives for the next while.

Overall the manga has a good story that’s starting to develop with characters that should develop nicely. I expect Iruma to become more fleshed out instead of a crazy doll killing maniac. Dolly Kill Kill is best suited for people that enjoy action manga, the manga is listed as a horror manga but don’t let that label fool you the manga doesn’t really have any horror elements. So far I’d give the manga a 8.5/10.

Chain Chronicles Haecceitas no Hikari First Impression

Chain Chronicles is the first anime of 2017 that I’ve watched and I must say that so far it’s been pretty impressive. the very first episode starts off with a bang and has so much action that I was left a bit lost. The first 6 minutes had me wondering what the hell I was watching it was nothing but pure action, I legitimately thought I was watching the anime version of Fire Emblem because I’m pretty sure I saw Corin or one of the other characters from Fire Emblem Awakening, hell I was pretty sure I saw some Final Fantasy characters. The show overall seems as though it will have a good variety of characters, some characters remind me of one’s from other shows and games.

The animation is very solid and looks beautiful the only things that I don’t like about the animation is the use of CGI in some scenes it makes it seem a little half assed at times especially when the characters in the background are made using CGI. The use of light and shadows on the characters faces just doesn’t look right at times it will make one side of their face far too bright and the other side looks a bit too dark at times. The way that the setting is drawn is so beautiful Mainly the forests like areas, the light reflecting off the water is also all so beautiful. One big problem with the show is that during fight scenes they make everyone who isn’t Arum and Yuri weak although by the time episode 4 hits you do get to see some other characters fighting more. The show also has very good voice acting and none of the characters have annoying voices.

Overall the first episode does pretty much nothing more than catch your attention although it does give you the basics regarding the plot. Basically the plot is about Yuri (not the nigga from Yuri on Ice) and the Volunteer army trying to stop the Black King from launching the world into darkness. The plot seems pretty basic and generic but the characters are pretty interesting especially the guy Arum who looks like Bell Cranel 2.0 and damn sure fights like it. The relationship between him and Yuri definitely has the potential of making the two characters more human. One thing that I wish the show did was put a little more focus on characters who aren’t named Juliana, Yuri, & Arum because there’s quite a sizeable and diverse cast of characters. The size of the cast of characters is a potential problem because it may treat many characters the way Fairy Tail treats its characters meaning that outside of the few main characters they’ll be little to no development.

There does seem to be a little romance developing between Yuri and Phoena (wifey). I would like to see the show take advantage of that and possibly put Phoena in the spotlight a bit more because she feels like a background character and you know she wifey you gotta give wifey some screentime.
Overall Chain Chronicles is a good anime and it’s best fit for people that like Action/Fantasy anime. So far I’d give it a 8/10 with the only problems being that it focuses too much on one set of characters and almost ignores the rest of the cast. The only other problem is that use of CGI. If you have the time you should definitely watch the show.

Sword Art Online Apparently Gets a 3rd Season

So apparently SAO: Ordinal Scale dropped without my knowing and there was a surprise at the end. First off let me say that I swear that I thought the movie was supposed to drop in March. Secondly I don’t understand why the show getting a 3rd season is a suprise to some people, after all the Alicization arc has yet to be covered in the show.

But back to news, the third season was apparently revealed after the credits of Ordinal Scale. The third season will most likely contain both the Girl Ops & Alicization arcs which I believe are the last two for the series. Hopefully Klein gets more screen time this time around because he was pretty entertaining in Extra Edition & the Caliber arc.

(After going through the source article a second time I realized that the viewers were viewing an advanced screening)

Blizzy’s 7 most anticipated spring 2017 anime

Recently I’ve started getting back on that anime grind and I’ve managed to watch some shows from this year which is much better than last year. With the Spring season just around the corner O thought that it’d be a good idea to make a list of the anime that I’m most hyped for this season, this list won’t contain any OVA’s or movies.

7) Zero Kara Hajimeru Mahou No Sho

Synopsis:It was the year 526. The world knew that witches existed, and that they practiced the notorious art of sorcery. Nevertheless, the world did not know anything about the study of magic. Our story follows a half-man, half-beast mercenary; humans mockingly call his kind the “fallen beasts.” He always dreamt of becoming a human, but one day, he met a witch who would change his life forever. “Do you desire a human form? Then be my escort, mercenary!” The witch introduced herself as “Zero,” and explained that she was searching for a one-of-a-kind magical tome that bandits had stolen from her lair. Entitled “The Book of Zero,” the grimoire supposedly contained valuable magical knowledge that could be used to effortlessly bring the world to its knees. Thus, in order to realize his dream of becoming a human, the mercenary must accompany Zero on her journey—despite her being one of the witches he so loathed. This is the story of a haughty sorceress and a kindhearted beast. -source (Livechart.me)

This show makes my list because it seems as if it’s going to have a deep story and good characters hopefully it all pans out and it proves to be a dope anime.

6) Clockwork Planet

Synopsis: Everyone on the Clockwork Planet considers Naoto Miura a machinery nut. Every moment of every day, he has his mind on gears and his hands tinkering with delicate mechanical motors, but nobody understand how he can hear and feel gears in operation, even from a long distance away. Then one day, a clockwork maiden falls from the sky, presaging events that would shake the whole world… (Source Livechart.me)

All I’m gonna say is that this anime is on that RPG sounding shit like Final Fantasy and I love anime and games like that, hopefully the show isn’t basic and has some depth to it.

5)Boruto: The Next Generation

If you know anything about me then you know I grew up watching Naruto so it’s a give in that I’m gonna watch Boruto.

4) Sakurada Reset

Synopsis: The story is set in a town called Sakurada, where almost half the population possess some form of special powers. The story centers on two high school students. Kei Asai has the ability to perfectly remember anything he sees and hears, while Misora Haruki can turn back or “reset” time for a maximum of three days. Both students are members of their school’s “Service Club,” which their town’s administration bureau uses to observe people with powers and protect the peace. By using their powers together (Kei can remember things even when time has been reset), they solve cases for the club. Kei learns of the “MacGuffin” stone, which looks like a worthless black stone, but in reality will turn out to be the stone upon which the existence of Sakurada will hinge on. (Source Livechart.me)

I love supernatural anime and the fact that the plot centers around a small town where the inhabitants have powers is pretty interesting. The show reminds me of Code Lyoko because they’re able to reset time.

3) Re: Creators

Synopsis: Humans have created many stories. Joy, sadness, anger, deep emotion. Stories shake our emotions, and fascinate us. However, these are only the thoughts of bystanders. But what if the characters in the story have “intentions”? To them, are we god-like existences for bringing their story into the world? Our world is changed. Mete out punishment upon the realm of the gods. In Re:CREATORS, everyone becomes a Creator. (Source ANN)

2) Frame Arms Girls

Synopsis:

Based on Kotobukiya’s Frame Arms Girl model kit line. The anime will focus on Gourai, the first model released for the line, as well as Stylet and Baselard (source MAL)

love Mecha anime so I pretty much have to include this show, the only thing that I’m worried about is that there’s gonna be a good amount of fan service which is a huge turn off for me but then again I did watch Infinite Stratos.

1) Seikaisuru Kado

Synopsis: Kojirou Shindou. Cabinet Office Director-General for Policy Planning, is at Haneda Airport for a business trip. While the plane is on the runway, a giant structure suddenly appears out of thin air. The plane carrying Shindou and 251 passengers is taken undamaged inside the giant structure. After everyone disembarks, a man who looks like an ordinary human being shows up. He assures those from the plane that they’re not in any danger. Shindou asks him to identify himself and explain the situation. Then the outside of the structure is displayed on a large screen, and at the same time, every passenger’s cell phone starts ringing all at once. On each cell phone screen is a message from this man, to every one of Japan’s citizens: “I, Yaha-kui za Shunina, hereby notify you that I am going to intervene in Japan’s internal affairs. “What is this young man’s goal? And will Shindou manage to become an intermediary between Japan and the Anisotorons…?
Let me be honest here the art Reminds me of K for some reason which had an amazing art style but delivered poorly with the plot hopefully this show’s delivery isuch better because it definitely has potential.

CrunchyRoll hits a huge milestone

Anyone that watches anime most likely knows about the very popular streaming service CrunchyRoll. Recently the streaming service has hit a milestone that sets it apart from other streaming services, CrunchyRoll has finally hit 1 million paid subscribers which makes it the most popular anime/ J- Drama specific streaming service to date.

The number is pretty small compared to some of the more well known streaming services but it shows that people are willing to pay to watch anime. CrunchyRoll does have a free version of it’s membership but it doesn’t offer the same perks that the paid membership offers. Hopefully anime streaming becomes more relevant and gets to a point where it can possibly come close to competing with some of the bigger services but that’s a bit of a stretch considering that there are other sources for it.

Weeaboos rejoice over the 2020 Tokyo Olympic ambassadors

We’re 3 years from the 2020 Olympics and it seems like Japan is already trying to hype the event up. Japan recently revealed who their Olympic ambassadors were and in typical Japanese fashion they had their ambassadors are anime characters. Yes, their Olympic ambassadors are anime characters more specifically

  • Naruto (Naruto/Naruto Shippuden)
  • Goku (Dragonball Z)
  • Astro Boy ( Astro Boy)
  • Shin-chan
  • Two girls from Pretty Cure
  • And a few others.

Meanwhile Otakus and Weebs everywhere are celebrating thinking that this is now their time to shine. Honestly I don’t think anyone outside of the anime community is really going to give a damn about this so Weebs please calm down.

You can now study about anime in college

Today in weeaboo news Otakus in the united States rejoice to hear that the University of South Carolina offers a course about anime. According to the plug the course is counted as an English 101 course. The course is apparently called reading and writing about magical girls which is a creepy and cringe worthy title. Some of the course objectives are as follows

    • Understand the basic tropes and methodologies of the magical girl genre.
    • Use the genre to introduce basic tenets of feminism.
    • Question whether niche interests like anime can elaborate on theoretical questions of aesthetics versus politics in a meaningful way.
    • Connect the magical girl genre to larger questions of political importance.

Teach students how to write (this is, after all, an introductory level English course)

At first I thought that the course would be something stupid but after seeing what they’re about I must say that it’s peaked my interest.

Anime Theory: Did Gangsta’s Veronica die?

Veronica is a very mysterious and interesting character who isn’t talked about much in Gangsta. She’s only seen about twice in the show and manga. It seems as though her character had some secrets about Nicholas. the only information that’s really known about Veronica is that she lived with Worrick and Nicholas, she is a Twilight, and she was apparently killed by Nicholas.

The fact that it’s said that Nicholas killed her seems a bit strange to me, Nicholas doesn’t seem like the type of person to kill some one to who’s very close to him. It os also possible that he didn’t kill Veronica, I say that because there are people who think that that terminally ill girl in the brothel is in fact Veronica. That theory could also be backed up by what Gina Paulkee said to Nicholas about ODing on Celebrer. If she actually is the girl in the brothel then her over dosing on Celebrer would be a make the most sense.

Another possibility is that her overdosing on Celebrer could have caused her to become rather violent causing Nicholas to have to kill her. The only problem with that theory is that we don’t know what her rank is, she could be as strong as Ginger or weaker like Delico. I think that she’s the ill girl in the brothel because they seem pretty similar from what we’re able to see combined with the fact that Nicholas was in the room with her.

It would be nice if Veronica’s character was more fleshed out because it seems as though she’ll have an important role in the series especially since she’s close to Worrick and Nicholas. If the manga and show ever come off of hiatus I would hope that they explain more about her and possibly make her a little more important in the series.

      Amazon launches anime streaming service

It looks as if Crunchyroll is good to finally get a some decent competition because Amazon has decided to release their own anime streaming service for only $5. The service is called Anime Strike and just from taking a little look at their catalog I have to say that it has a bit better selection than CrunchyRoll.

It should be known that you don’t have to be a Amazon prime member to use the service. The price is $5 a month for non prime members and $99/ per year for prime members, the reason it’s $99 for members is because that’s the price for Prime anyway and there’s no increase in price for adding the service. There is a 7-day free trial for non prime members and a 30 day trial for members.

Weeaboos get angered by a Hallmark show

Today in No Life Weeaboo News many fans of the popular “sports” anime Yuri On Ice were angered by Hallmark’s new show called Love on Ice. Before I go any further let me say that their reason is somewhat stupid. The fans were angered because they believed that the show was a rip off of Yuri On Ice. According to Kotaku

“a January 2nd Change.org petition demanding that the Hallmark Channel take down Love on Ice garnered over 3,600 signatures in just two days. “It is obvious that Hallmark is making a movie very similar to the hit anime, ‘Yuri On Ice’ created by Mitsurō Kubo,” the petition reads. Thousands of outraged tweets accused Hallmark of copying Yuri on Ice, with several hundred describing it as a white, heterosexual mutant clone”

Clearly the Yuri On Ice fans went full on SJW because Love on Ice is similar to their beloved show. Sadly the Weeaboi failed to realize that the people who came up with the show have probably never seen the show and possibly never even seen an anime or read a fucking manga. This story is a perfect example of how the anime community flips out over shit that doesn’t even matter and it’s also what makes people shun and not want to be associated with anime or their fans.

Another thing that I want to point out is that just because something is very similar doesn’t mean that it’s a copy or that it’s inspired by whatever it’s similar to, it also doesn’t mean that you should go bat shit triggered because it really doesn’t matter
