Video Game Tag

I gotta thank my mans Matt for tagging me for the video game tag. It’s a rarity that I talk about my own interest outside of news, reviews and the like. So you’ll get the chance to know a little bit about me.

    Question:

What is your favorite video game genre (I.E. RPG, FPS, MMO, etc.)?

I enjoy RPG’s the most especially ones that have extensive character creation and customization. Racing games are also tied with RPG’s.

Which system do you prefer to game on?

I’m a PC gamer pretty much by default but I’m thinking of copping a PS4 mainly because of Horizon Zero Dawn. I would be willing to cop a Xbox One but there aren’t any exclusives that make me really want it although Halo Reach Anniversary should be dropping in the next few years.

Who is your favorite video game character?

It’s gonna be a 3-way tie for this one my favorite characters are Master Chief (Halo Franchise), Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII), & Squall Leonhart (Kingdom Hearts Franchise, Final Fantasy VI).

Which game do you believe has the best plot?

Honestly I think the Mass Effect Franchise had the best plot in gaming. I say that because the player had the ability to alter the plot to an extent with their decision making.

What game gave the most hype but didn’t deliver?

The Division easily didn’t live up to the hype. That game had the most bootleg damage model, headshots didn’t kill enemies, yet you could get fucked up quick. Ubisoft did one hell of a job hyping it up just for us to be let down.

What game are you waiting for?

Mass Effect Andromeda, I’m so hyped up for that game it’s not even funny and the gameplay that was dropped had me salivating. I’m getting that game day one.

If you were taken to an island and  forced to only play 3 games, which 3 games would you choose?

I would choose The Crew, Skyrim, and I’m gonna go back to the days if the PS2 with this one Jak X.

Which games do you feel have the best replay value?

I would say any old school game because it was just something about them that made the so fun, maybe it’s the absence of DLC.

Name 1 Game that you think everyone should play?

For this one I’m gonna go with a game that may have slipped under people’s radars in the days of the Xbox 360, the game is called Vanquish, and although it’s only single player the game is pretty damn good

What game did you grow up on?

As a 90’s kid I grew up playing things like Spyro, Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, & Sly Cooper. The last three just so happen to also be some of my favorite game franchises ever.

Which game would you like to see come back?

Jak & Daxter mainly because the last game two games that came out were spin-offs and I know for a fact Jak ain’t the type to sit around and rule Spargas City. Also I’m pretty sure the metal heads are still around at the end of Jak 3.

Xbox Gamers Dreams For Neir Automata have been crushed

If you’re an Xbox her and you’ve been keeping your eye on the hyped up Neir Automata then it looks like you’ll mostly be out of luck if you don’t buy a PS4 because the game pretty much isn’t coming to Xbox One. Now before Xbox fanboys try and send death threats to platinum games they did give a reason as to why the game is only on PS4.

According to our source Neir Automata’s producer Yosuke Saito stated

“There are currently no plans to release on this platform. “The main reason for this is that the Japanese market for Xbox One is not strong, so the decision was made to focus on PlayStation 4 rather than to split our efforts across two platforms. The biggest benefit to developing on one platform is that we did not have to split our time, allowing us to focus more on the quality,” Saito continued.” It is not about whether one platform is better than the other, it’s that from a development point of view were can devote more time to one platform.

In other words the game isn’t going to be available on Xbox One simply because the market for the console isn’t as big in Japan. There is a nice upside to the lack of availability is that the game should have better graphics since they’re only developing it for one platform (which has better graphics). Hopefully it gets ported over at some point in time so that everyone that wants to cop it doesn’t have to drop money for a PS4 or gaming PC.

Tekken 7 to take up plenty of storage & gets delayed

Anyone who wants to cop the highly anticipated fighting game Tekken 7 is most likely going to have to clear some space on their console if they have a lot of games. The game is going to take up 42GBs of storage in the US and 45GBs in Europe as the minimum save capacity. If you pre-interviews the game then you’ll most likely have to have more space.

If you happen to have the storage then you might be disappointed to know that the game has been delayed. According to the plug Tekken 7 has been delayed to June 2nd. The reason for the delay is because the devs didn’t want players to essentially bitch over a “lack of content”. The PS4 Version of the game is also going to support VR so that’s probably another reason for the delay.

PlayStation apparently has revealed the details about their latest update. The new update is update 4.50 and according to our plug the update has been code named Saskue. The update will include

    • Custom Wallpapers: PS4 owners will be able to use screenshots as wallpapers on their console
    • External HDD Support: Users will finally be able use external Hard Drives with their PS4, this feature should’ve been available day one but it’s better to get it later instead of never getting it.
    • 3D Blu-ray on PlayStation VR: If you fuck with 3D movies and own PlayStation VR then Sony has has you covered because you can now get the full 3D experience at home.
    • Refreshed Quick Menu:
Sony does a welcome refresh of their Quick Menu

Overall the updates main features are good with the only truly significant thing being External Hard Drive support. It would’ve been nice if they did a full on overhaul of the UI and made it look better but they didn’t.

Final Fantasy XII remake gets a release date

Today is the 30th anniversary of Final Fantasy, a series that almost never existed. 2017 is a major year for the Series with the creator Square Enix coming off of the hype that Final Fantasy XV generated. It’s also expected that Final Fantasy VII remake is going to drop this year also, XV should be getting some DLC also.

    Release dates

But before all that happens we’ll be getting a remake of Final Fantasy XII. This remake is luckily is going to drop much sooner than VII, the remake for XII is set to drop in July and features updated graphics (1080p), a newly recorded soundtrack, and a trial mode. FF XII was the last game in the series to release on the PlayStation 2.

Xbox gets 2 more Controllers and they’re fire

If you’re not satisfied with a plain old Xbox one controller or you don’t want to dish out $100+ on a custom controller then you should know that Microsoft announced two new colorways for their Xbox One controller. Both controllers will cost about $70.

The first controller is the Winter Special Forces Edition controller and features a white digital camo design. This controller is the latest edition into the Special Forces series of Xbox controllers. It has a rather simplistic design but it manages to look pretty dope especially with the white and grey on the face buttons. The controller would look even better had they made the D-pad chrome or silver.

The next controller colorway is called Ocean Shadow which is a fitting name due to the black/ Blue colorway. The same color scheme continues onto the XYAB buttons. If the controller had a blue chrome D-pad it would look oh so sexy. Let me know whether you think these controllers are heat or if they’re just weak with a comment.

Xbox gets 3 more backwards compatible games

These days it seems as though Microsoft has a good idea of what games they should make backwards compatible. This week they added 3 games to the list of backwards compatible gamesmaking it a total of 18 for the month of January. The games they added are

    • Juju $15
    • Mad Tracks $10
    • Stuntman Ignition $15

If you owned the games on 360 then they should be available in your games library if you never owned them or they aren’t in your library for some reason then you’ll have to pay and download the games. Other games they added in January were Battlefield 3 & Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Fire Emblem Heroes finally gets it’s trailer

Nintendo’ upcoming mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes finally has it’s trailer dropped and it shows some of the characters that are going to be in the game.  As expected Chrome, Martha, Lucina, and the purple haired woman from the latest entry in the series are going to be in the game. The trailer also showed how the gameplay will work. We also get to see that you’ll be against other FE characters and not just random grunts.

Outside of characters and gameplay I truly hope that the game doesn’t have that cheap corny music that the trailer has.

Sony Sponsors a boot camp for girls that want to get into the gaming industry

It’s pretty well noted that females don’t make up a majority of the gaming industry, luckily Sony has started a boot camp that is aimed to get females into the industry. According to the connect the boot camp is aimed at females ranging in age from 11-14 so it’s probably best to keep them away from that nigga Onision.

All jokes aside it would probably make more sense for the program to start at 14 because what can you really teach an 11 year old about the gaming industry. The boot camp takes place in the UK. The boot camp is organized by Liverpool Girl Geeks. The camp might just be a little stunt by SJW’s but it’s still a good thing that’s being done.
